Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) in Koggala is the only government-sponsored Hotel School in the Southern Province in Sri Lanka. The institute was initially started in 1992 at Weligama Bay Inn Hotel. It was later moved to Koggala in 2008 to cater to the high demand for well-recognized courses offered by SLITHM and to provide adequate facilities for the students to gain a world-class experience.
At present, the SLITHM Koggala operates with its full capacity and has around 225 students who study all four Certificate Level courses which lead to the Management Level and Craft Level skill-based courses. Up to date, the institute has produced hundreds of well-trained individuals for the tourism and hotel management industry.
SLITHM Koggala branch is fully equipped with modern amenities including a full training restaurant with 40 covers, a computer lab with 23 flat-screen computers along with Wi-Fi & Internet facilities, 10 classrooms which can accommodate 30 students in each, library, two mock-up rooms, conference hall. The branch is fully staffed with experienced and qualified professionals to prepare students to achieve their career goals in the tourism and hotel management industry.
