The Anuradhapura branch of the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management was inarguably established in 1992 by offering two courses for Front office and Housekeeping, using a space managed by the tourist board. This college is situated by the Sri Maha Bodhi Road within close proximity to the sacred Boo – tree & other places of religious & archeological interest.
By 1994 SLITHM Anuradhapura offered courses in Restaurant and Bar and Cookery. Altogether, the courses were extended to four courses and languages.
In 2005, SLITHM Anuradhapura was permanently established in Dharmasiri Tourist Information Centre in Sri Maha Bodhi Mawatha. By 2008 a training kitchen and a restaurant were established permanently to provide a holistic learning environment for the students.
Currently, SLITHM Anuradhapura branch offers 4 courses in the areas; Cookery, Restaurant and Bar, House Keeping and Front Office to prepare students to be globally competitive in the hospitality and tourism industry. The college has enabled many unemployed youth in areas such as Batticaloa, Ampara, Trincomalee, Vavuniya, etc to secure career positions in the hospitality industry.
We have also planned to introduce short courses for pastry and bakery, tour guiding, one month curse, 13-year school course for students in government schools and language courses.

Our primary vision is to prepare the youth in the North Central province in order to obtain rewarding opportunities in the Hotel and tourism industry by providing quality and industry-oriented education.
